7 WAYS TO LAND A SUMMER JOB

Summer is a great time to find a new job. Whether you’re a school leaver, you’re on a break or simply looking for a change there are lots of great job opportunities to be found at this time of year. Here are our top 7 tips for finding a job this summer!

Refresh Your CV

Before you start your search make sure that you add any new skills and experiences you’ve gained. This will help to ensure your CV is up to date, relevant and will give you the best chance at landing your next role. An out of date CV can make you appear less experienced and unsuitable for a role.

Sign Up To Job Boards

Job boards, such as Indeed and Monster, will not only let you search for jobs, they’ll also put your CV in front of businesses who are looking for candidates. They are great platforms to get you noticed by hiring managers, which will save you a lot of time and put you into consideration for roles you may have been unaware of.

Join Facebook Job Groups

Facebook has thousands of groups created specifically to help users find jobs in their local area. Most areas of the UK will have a Facebook job group; which you can search for using the search bar at the top of your Facebook homepage. Job groups will not only help you to find out about new vacancies, they will also help you to contact hiring managers who are advertising roles on the platform.

Register your CV

Employment and recruitment agencies offer a wide range of job opportunities throughout the summer. Registering your CV with them will put you in the running for lots of great roles in your area!

Search Hashtags on Twitter

Twitter is a great place to find new jobs, as many employers will add their latest vacancies to their Twitter feed, adding hashtags such as #hiring and #newjob to their tweets. Searching similar hashtags will help you to find new jobs quickly without having to search through thousands of company profiles!

Check Company Websites

Lots of companies will advertise their current vacancies on their websites. If there is a specific company you’d like to work for then its best to go directly to their website. If you’re not able to find what you’re looking for, contact them! If they don’t have any current roles they may be able to give you information about upcoming vacancies.

Ask Around

Never underestimate the power of your professional and personal network! Don’t be afraid to ask around and reach out to friends and family members about new or upcoming job opportunities. They may know about jobs you’re not aware of or could put you in contact with others who can help you with your search.
