How To <3 Your Job More

Being happy in your job can result in you being more productive, feeling more sociable and you are less likely to be lethargic. However if you’re not one of the lucky ones who enjoys going to work, sometimes it can be difficult to find a happy medium.

If you are looking to generally boost your mood in the workplace, take a look at our tips below to help point you in the right direction…

Change Your Mind-Set
The way we react to a situation can have an impact on the way we feel about a particular task at work.  However rather than thinking, ‘I am so stressed’ or ‘I’m too busy’ instead focus on why you are feeling like this and what are the main triggers. By focusing on the reasons behind your stress, you are more likely to find a solution which can in-turn leave you feeling happier.

Plan, Plan, Plan
A lot of unhappiness at work can stem from having too much to do and feeling overwhelmed. Therefore it’s important to prioritize any key tasks so you are to manage your workload better. Start each day by composing a list of what you need to complete to leave you feeling more organised and satisfied when you leave at the end of the day.
Use Your Body Clock To Your Advantage
If you have some challenging tasks to tackle, it’s best to complete them when your energy levels are at their highest.  For the majority of people, this tends to take place in the morning after a good night’s sleep. Tackle more routine tasks during the afternoon where you are most likely to suffer from a post-lunch slump.

De-clutter Your Space
Surrounded by a pile of papers, empty coffee cups and a tonne of pens? If so, it might be time to clean up your workspace as it could be creating some unwanted chaos. By working in a neat environment, it will leave you feeling much calmer and organised, especially if asked to present an important document at the drop of a hat.

Take On More Reasonability
You maybe feeling unhappy at work as you feel too comfortable in your current role. After we’ve been in a position for a period of time, we start to get used to the tasks which are asked of us and may require an additional challenge. Speak to your manager about any additional responsibilities which you can take on and keep an eye out for any future opportunities to gain promotion within your current company.

Find A Common Ground
Friction in the workplace amongst colleagues can be a significant cause of unhappiness.  If you are able to find a common ground with your co-workers and get along with them, you will find your overall satisfaction at work will rocket.

Take A Break
Finally, It’s important to get your work/life balance right, after all if you are feeling overworked you are less likely to perform well. Sometimes, a well-earned break away from the office (even if you plan to do nothing) can help to boost your mood and leave you feeling more productive when you do return to work.
